I have to admit, the holiday season is kicking my butt. It’s like someone hit the fast forward button and I couldn’t keep up.
I could simply take care of holiday shopping by ordering everything online, or buying gift cards, or directly giving money or check. Yet, I still think it’s important to take time and make something thoughtful for my loved ones. After all, it’s the thought (and time) that counts, right?
I’m sure I’m not the only one feeling overwhelmed this holiday season so as holiday gifts, I’m giving the gift of relaxation: body salt scrub.
If you’d like to do the same (and I encourage you too!), feel free to follow the recipe below.
- 16 oz glass mason jars or 18 oz to-go containers (I used recycled ones to be earth and wallet friendly)
- Epsom salt (fill your gift container with epsom salt about 3/4 full)
- Olive oil (Coconut or Jojoba oil works great too)
- *30 drops of lavender oil
- *3 drops of geranium oil
*Feel free to use other aromatic oil of choice. I bought my lavender and geranium oil from a health store.
Grind the epsom salt using a blender. Be careful not to grind it too much. You basically just want the epsom salt to be less coarse and more friendly to the skin.
Pour olive oil into the jar container about 1/4 of its way.
Add the epsom salt and carefully mix. I used the end of a fork to stir the ingredients. Add more oil if needed.
Add about 30 drops (or more) of lavender oil and about 2-3 drops of geranium oil. Feel free to adjust the aroma to your liking.
You’re done! To add a personal message, simply write on a blank sticker label and stick it on the container. You may also tie a red ribbon around it to make your gift look more festive.
Happy Holidays and take it easy!
